At Holy Cross, we are passionate and committed to providing the children in our care with high quality learning opportunities.
Our curriculum develops key skills to support academic success, creativity, problem solving, responsibility and resilience. This is underpinned by our school values - we endeavour to ensure that every pupil leaves Holy Cross embodying kindness, confidence and excellence. In addition to our core values, we also promote British Values through our spiritual, moral, social and cultural education. We recognise that such development is most successful when those values and attitudes are promoted by all the staff who provide positive role models for our pupils.
We offer a curriculum that is broad and balanced, and has been carefully organised to ensure children have the opportunities to revisit, practise and repeat learning, essential for deeper understanding.
The curriculum celebrates the unique location of our school, utilising the cultural, historical, and geographical “wealth” of our Island, and the impact of its pioneering past and present residents.
We have high expectations for all our learners and want our children to have limitless ambition. We encourage and support children to build on success, learn from mistakes, take responsible risks, manage their emotions, and develop resilience.
We recognise that learning outside the classroom is an essential part of the learning process for all learners. At Holy Cross, this includes Forest School, educational visits, whole school activities, sporting events, cultural visits and experiences, local community events and residential opportunities both on the Island and beyond.
