“It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to make music to your name, O Most High.” - Psalm 91
“Music is the language of the spirit. It opens the secret of life, bringing peace.” - Kahlil Gibran
At Holy Cross Catholic Primary School, music is a joyful and expressive part of our curriculum that celebrates our faith, culture and community. Through music, pupils are encouraged to be creative, confident and reflective, developing their musical talents while experiencing the joy of making and sharing music with others.
We follow the Kapow Primary Music curriculum, which provides a carefully sequenced approach from EYFS to Year 6, ensuring pupils build secure knowledge and skills in singing, listening, composing and performing. Lessons are practical, engaging and inclusive, enabling every child to participate and succeed.
As a Catholic school, music plays an important role in our worship and collective life, helping pupils to express gratitude, hope and praise. Pupils explore a rich variety of musical styles, traditions and cultures, developing respect for diversity and an appreciation of how music connects people across the world.
Our aim is for pupils to leave Holy Cross with confidence in their musical abilities, a love of performance and creativity, and a lasting understanding of the power of music to inspire, unite and bring joy.
