At Holy Cross Catholic Primary School, science is about curiosity, exploration and understanding the world around us. Through practical investigations and meaningful questions, pupils are encouraged to observe, enquire and think critically, developing the skills and knowledge needed to make sense of the natural world.
Our science curriculum, aligned with the PlanBee scheme of work, is carefully sequenced from EYFS to Year 6 to build scientific knowledge, vocabulary and enquiry skills over time. Pupils explore scientific concepts through hands-on experiences, learning to ask questions, carry out investigations and work collaboratively to find answers.
As a Catholic school, we nurture pupils’ awe and wonder in God’s creation and encourage them to consider their responsibility towards others and the environment. Wherever possible, science learning is linked to real-life contexts and future careers, helping pupils understand the relevance and impact of science in everyday life.
Our aim is for pupils to leave Holy Cross as confident, curious learners, equipped with a strong foundation in scientific understanding and a lifelong interest in science.
